Buderim Cookie Company Gingerbread Houses
bcchouse3.jpg
I discovered something truly fabulous this week. This is definitely a ‘must share’ especially leading up to Christmas. If there is a special family that you know and you can’t think of what to buy them, well consider this:

Anja Mew from the Buderim Cookie Company is creating the most delightful Gingerbread houses for Christmas. I remember being about 7 years old and wanting to make my own Gingerbread house for Christmas. So every week, for almost months leading up to Christmas my mum would allow me to buy lollies and chocolate buttons, and all sorts of other confectionery so that when Christmas got close I could make a wonderful Gingerbread house.

bcchouse2.jpgThe hitch was the mounding lollie jar was just too big a temptation to resist so when ever mum wasn’t around I would sneak a few bits and pieces (and so would my brother). Just a chocolate freckle here and a raspberry jube there as well as the odd marshmallow or two, so one by one I slowly ate away my roof tiles, windows and snow. Sadly the lolly jar seemed to dissipate rather than fill and well, come Christmas time the Gingerbread house would have looked more like some sort of derelict shanty house rather than the delectable little confectionery house that I had in mind.

So here is the opportunity to fulfil a childhood fantasy: These gingerbread houses are so perfectly created they would make anyone smile. The roof is frosted with icing, a chocolate Santa ready to hop into the chimney. The windows are pattern of coloured jubes and it has a jelly bean picket fence as well as licorice allsorts garden tiles, a snowman out the front and it even has chocolate freckles on the roof tiles. It doesn’t stop there, come inside….

bcchouse.jpgThe inside is packed to its icing gutters with rum balls and fudge that are just to die for. The whole little house is just so beautifully presented it made me feel like I was a seven year old again and I could not have had greater joy with it had I made it myself.

Anja is making these Gingerbread houses to order and will deliver orders up until the 15th of December so you will need to get in quick.

Gingerbread houses are $100, but worth every penny, just watch the kids eyes light up!

Please leave a message and Anja will get back to you as she is usually busy baking and cannot always get to the phone.
